UNLOCK LogoAnnual Unlock Walk

Saturday 12th April 2025

Every year a group of Parishioners from Wisborough Green joins this annual walk visiting a variety of churches in London.  In fact, a few started going on the London walks in 1987 and are still walking some 38 years later - although maybe rather decrepit now!! They have always been days of fun - even in snow one year and a deluge another!! We have learnt so much about different parts of London and different churches on our walks – and although we walk 8 or 9 miles we stop at several Unlock 2023churches en route. And nearly every church supplies coffee and cake (never as good as Xpresso cake, though!).

The aim of the walk is to raise money for Unlock’s work in deprived urban areas across the UK and to raise awareness of the issues that Unlock exists to address. Over the years, we have realised how the desperately poor parts of London have improved and seen the work of Unlock in areas of poverty and sadness. Last year, at our first church, St Clement’s, we were shown the Butterfly Memorial, made up of large and small butterflies for the adults and children who lost their lives in the Grenfell Tower disaster. Outside there was a beautiful memorial garden.

Unlock 2019 IMG 3258This year’s walk will take place on Saturday 12th April in Battersea, Kennington, Camberwell, North Brixton and Stockwell.

For more information, including a map of the route, go to https://www.unlock-urban.org.uk/support/walk/
The walk this year is about 7.8 miles long and we visit about 6 churches – so not too difficult! You can get involved by either joining us on the walk or by sponsoring those walking (or both!).

If you can join us do let Judy know on 01403 700700.

Please, please sponsor and pray for our UNLOCK walk in London.
